Application Process

To apply for admission, an applicant should:

  1. Request an application package from the nearest College campus or print off an application form.
  2. Submit the completed application form and application fee, transcripts of secondary and post-secondary education, and other required information specified in the application package to the appropriate College department.
  3. The Student Services department is your first point of contact at any NLC campus for information on any program. Student Services at any campus can assist you with your application or questions. Inquiries about the following program areas can be directed to Student Services:
    1. Academic/University Arts and Sciences programs or courses (including AHCOTE)
    2. Business programs or courses
    3. Foundation Trades Training programs
    4. Health programs
    5. Upgrading programs or courses (including Career and College Preparation)
  4. For some programs, you will be referred to another department that specializes in particular areas of programming. 
    1. Apprenticeship level Trades programs: Email, Brenda Mitchell for programs offered in Fort St. John, or Sam Alton for programs offered in Dawson Creek
    2. Early Childhood Education and Care and Education Assistant programs: Email, ecetadept@nlc.bc.ca, or check the registration page information at ECEC or EA
    3. International Education (for all non-Canadian resident applicants), Email: inted@nlc.bc.ca, or check the International Education webpage.
  5. Consult with Student Services or an Admissions Officer for more information on any assessment(s) required for your program. 
  6. Register for and complete any necessary assessment test(s).
  7. Wait for a Letter of Acceptance from Northern Lights College indicating that you have met the prerequisites, and been accepted into the program to which you applied. That letter will outline any additional items that you may need to complete, and will indicate your program’s start date.
  8. Pay the deposit outlined in the Letter of Acceptance to guarantee your place in the program. Deposits may be paid at any NLC campus.
  9. Pay the balance of your tuition and any other outstanding fees no later than the first day of class for your program.
