Early Childhood Education and Care Program

The Early Childhood Education and Care department is dedicated to offering quality educational programs to adults who want to work with young children in group settings.

These programs are offered in a flexible mode of delivery through distance education that meets the needs of adults who cannot attend a typical full-day program.

Student acceptance into the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) program is contingent on previous academic achievement, health assessment, references, and personal suitability, as shown by responses to a questionnaire. The ECEC program encourages students from diverse backgrounds to apply.

Completion of the ECEC program is the first step in becoming a Certified Early Childhood Educator in British Columbia. For information on additional requirements, please see the Ministry of Children and Family Development Early Childhood Educator Registry webpage.

For information regarding the Early Childhood Education and Care program, please contact the ECEC office in Fort St. John at 250-785-6981 or 250-787-6234. You can also call toll free at 1-866-INFO-NLC (1-866-463-6652) and ask for the ECEC office in Fort St. John.
