Northern Lights College renews articulation agreement with Northern Opportunities

On , In General, College News, Careers

The articulation agreement allows for the successful transition of school age learners from secondary to post-secondary. Students are provided with career planning and dual credit opportunities, which enable them to learn secondary and post-secondary credits simultaneously towards graduation.

The partnership consists of the three northeast school districts (Peace River South, Peace River North, and Fort Nelson), Fort Nelson First Nation Chalo School, NLC, the Ministry of Education, BCIT, NENAS and industry partners – BC Hydro, Spectra, Encana and Shell Canada.

Dr. Bryn Kulmatycki, NLC president and CEO was on-hand for the signing and was pleased that partnership continues to thrive.

“This partnership is a unique success story, which has delivered graduates for the past several years whose post-secondary credentials were earned as they were working towards high school graduation,” he said. “The flexibility of training options in the dual credit program is second-to-none.”

“Dual credit programs give secondary students a great head start in creating a seamless transition into career pathways,” agreed Cheryl Anthony, executive director of the Northern Opportunities Partnership. “We are fortunate to have the cooperation of all the education partners in the Peace Region combined with the support of all involved in the Northern Opportunities Partnership.”
