“We’re very thankful for Spectra Energy’s continuing donations,” said Donna Kane, executive director, NLC Foundation. “This support goes a long way in helping students on their journey to success at NLC.”

The most recent donation of $5,000 is for Trades Support, adding to Spectra Energy’s support of bursaries and scholarships that, to date, now total over a quarter of a million dollars. Through the NLC Foundation, these funds make their way to the students in a variety of Trades and Apprenticeships programs.

“In the past, this money has gone to help our students cover some of the costs of their education,” said Mark Heartt, NLC’s dean of Trades and Apprenticeships. “Being able to watch a student learn without the worry of financial burden is a great thing to see. It really helps the students focus on their education, and become a great tradesperson in their chosen field.” For that, we’re thankful to sponsors such as Spectra Energy.”

Spectra Energy said it is proud to play a role in supporting skills training through bursaries and investments in education.

“Investments like these help students learn and grow which benefits the whole community,” said Gary Weilinger, vice president of external relations with Spectra Energy. “We are proud of the relationship we have developed with the Northern Lights College and committed to contributing to the well-being of the communities in which we work and live.”
