This module covers the study of aerodynamics relating to low and high speed of fixed rotary wing aircraft.

T1-1 Theory of Flight - Fixed Wing
- Describe the properties of the atmosphere
- Explain how lift is generated and affected
- Explain how control and stability are re-achieved for an aircraft in flight
- Explain the principles of high-speed flight, the problems encountered and how those problems have been addressed
T1-2 Theory of Flight - Rotary Wing:
- Describe aerodynamic principles affecting a rotary wing aircraft
- Describe various rotor designs employing accepted terminology
- Describe the forces acting on various helicopter rotor systems
- Describe auto rotation, ground resonance and stability with regard to helicopter types
- Describe helicopter rotor control systems
The student will relate the aircraft's ability to create lift within the atmospheric conditions it must work in. They will explain the variables of control and stability of the aircraft and identify the design features that affect these variables.
Grading System: Percentage
Passing Grade: 70 %
Percentage of Individual Work: 100
