WFTR313 - Application of Electrical Codes & Standards

Topics include safety regulations and safety branch bulletins, all sections/tables/appendices of the 2002 edition of the Code, and the standards for overhead line construction. Participants who complete the course will be eligible to apply to become registered representatives under the Electrical Safety Regulations. This is an "Electrical Safety Branch" recognized course and is designed for qualified electricians (construction or plant). Engineers and apprenticeship instructors have also availed themselves of this presentation. The facilitator is a retired electrical inspector.

Prerequisites:
It is essential that all participants are on the subscription list of Electrical Safety Publications through Crown Publications.
Students must provide acceptable proof of relevant training and work experience as noted:
- B.C. Certificate of Qualifications (C of Q) in the trade of Electrician, Electrical Work, Industrial Work, or B.C. Exemption Permit in the trade of Electrician or Canadian Interprovincial Standards Examination (IPSE) Certificate in the trade of Electrician.
One of the ABOVE and:
- A minimum of one year acceptable relevant electrical work
- Experience after receiving a C of Q in the trade of Electrician
- Original letter of completion from an instructor of a recognized course in the, Application of Electrical Codes and Standards
- Pay the required fee

- Pass the Class A, B, or C certification examination

Learning Outcomes:

This course will prepare students to write the 3.5 hour BC Provincial exam and is compulsory for all FSR applicants.

 

Grading System: Other - This is a prep course for students in order to write their provincial exam.  There is no grade for this course, it is just an overview pre course.

 

Percentage of Individual Work: 100
