In this introductory course, students develop skills as writers and communicators for business purposes. Activities center on planning, organizing, composing, and revising business messages. Documents include letters, memos, e-mails, and other business messages with an emphasis on clear, concise communication.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate:
- Selection of the appropriate communication channels (e.g., e-mail, memo, letter, report, fax, voice-mail, etc.) for a particular situation and purpose
- Use of a three-part writing process that incorporates pre-writing, writing and revising
- Effective organization of ideas
- Editing for a concise, direct, simple prose style
- Writing persuasively
- Proofreading for common errors in grammar, punctuation, capitalization, use of numbers, and abbreviation
- Working effectively in meetings and small groups

- Adapting the message to the requirements and formats of letters, memos and e-mails

Passing Grade: 70%


Percentage of Individual Work: 100
