Information and Communication Technology – Diploma

Info Communication TechnologyProgram Description

Students are provided with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the theoretical and applied uses of information technology in various business applications, including database design, data storage, and data transfer.

Students will develop advanced skills in installing, configur­ing, and customizing Microsoft® operating systems; programming using multiple languages; and use of tools and techniques for e-commerce. Students will gain foundational knowledge in project management with an integrated focus on business information systems.

Career Prospects

Diploma graduates are prepared for entry-level network administration, programming, or new media.

Admission Prerequisites

Completion of the Information and Communication Technology Certificate program;


Successful completion, within the past three years, of any Grade 11 Math course, or Career and College Preparation MATH040 (Advanced/Grade 11) with C+ or higher.


Complete the following sections of the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT):

  • Number Operations: 11.9 grade equivalent or higher
  • Problem Solving: 11.9 grade equivalent or higher  

Important Notes

  1. The program is eligible for Canada Student Loans. Visit StudentAid BC to apply for financial assistance online.
  2. Due to the rapidly changing nature of the field of Information Technology, students have a maximum of five years to complete their certificate.
  3. Full-time students will require a minimum of 2.5 years to complete the Diploma.
  4. The program is a collaboration between Northwest Community College, College of New Caledonia, Yukon College, University of Northern British Columbia, and NLC.
