This module covers DC and AC electricity as it relates to aircraft electrical systems.

Admission in to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program.

Course Content:
T3-1 – DC Electrical
- Explain electricity
- Explain electrical devices
- Use Ohm’s Law to perform mathematical analysis of electrical circuits
- Explain electrical measuring instruments
- Explain maintenance of aircraft storage batteries
- Explain electromagnetic induction
- Demonstrate the basic principals of using, testing and installing electrical devices
T3-2 – AC Electrical
- Explain the principals of Alternating Current (AC) theory
- Explain the function and use of AC measuring devices
- Explain capacitance
- Explain impedance
- Explain inductance
- Explain the processes of AC generation
- Explain the processes of power conversion
- Explain the operation of semi-conductors
T3-3 – Electrical Systems

- Maintain and test a DC Generator
- Maintain an aircraft electrical supply and generation system
- Construct and maintain a basic aircraft electrical circuit
- Connect a circuit containing various control and protection devices
- Troubleshoot an aircraft electrical system
- Maintain aircraft electrical motor circuits and systems
- Maintain electrical landing gear systems
- Explain air regulations pertinent to aircraft electrical systems
- Describe aircraft alternating current electrical systems
- Demonstrate safety procedures

 

Learning Outcomes:

The student will identify the components and follow the flow of electricity through mechanical and solid state components and systems and become proficient at evaluating and troubleshooting these systems.

 

Grading System:  Percentage

 

Passing Grade:  70%

 

Percentage of Individual Work:  100
