AMET 105 - Tools for Aircraft Maintenance

This module covers the tools that will be used in the maintenance of aircraft and support equipment.

Prerequisite: Admission in to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program.
Course Content:

T5-1 – Hand Tools

  • Demonstrate adherence to air regulations and safety procedures
  • Demonstrate the proper use of cutting tools used in the repair and maintenance of aircraft
  • Demonstrate the proper selection and use of mechanical and electrical assembly tools
  • Demonstrate the proper use of sheet metal tools
  • Demonstrate the proper use of the measurement and layout group of tools
T5-2 – Machine Tools
  • Demonstrate adherence to air regulations and safety procedures
  • Demonstrate the proper use of power and abrasive tools
T5-3 – Precision Instruments
  • Use and care for micrometers
  • Use and care of bore & dial gauges & protractors
  • Explain the use of miscellaneous instrument

Learning Outcomes:
  • The student will select the proper tool for the job and use it appropriately to complete the task.
  • The student will ensure the tool is functioning properly, calibrated as required and repaired when necessary.
