This course will introduce the student to basic skills required for using a computer; prepare, save & retrieve word processing documents; find and print information from the Internet, and how to use simple information systems.

Basic reading and writing skills
The student will be able to perform:
- Basic start-up and shutdown procedures on a computer
Basic file procedures using a graphical user interface
Basic word processing procedures needed to create and edit a simple document
Achieve a typing speed of 10 wpm, or alternatively a speed equal to their handwriting speed
Use simple information systems to find information
Use a printer
The student will be required to perform all tasks in an acceptable manner in a practical demonstration.
