CTAT 100 - Commercial Transport Technician Apprenticeship Level 1

Level 1 of the Commercial Transport Technician Apprenticeship explores the practical and theoretical components of hydraulic systems, steering systems, frames, suspension and attachments, hydraulic and air brake systems, and air operated controls. Students will also become familiar with electricity as it relates to the trade. Upon completion of this course, students will be capable of working in industry at a first year apprentice level. Curriculum is determined as per the Industry Training Authority.

 

Hours: 180 (Lecture Hours: 90;  Shop Teaching Kitchen: 90)

 

Total Weeks:  6

 

Prerequisites:

Level 1 Registered Apprentice with the Industry Training Authority or proof of successful completion of related Foundation Trades Training program.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the apprentice should be able to work safely in a commercial transport shop and perform correct repair procedures typical of a first year apprentice including the following:

Grading System:  Percentage

 

Passing Grade:  70%

 

Percentage of Individual Work:  100

 

Additional Comments:
- Students will sign and adhere to the Trades & Apprenticeship Safety and Attendance Policy

- Students will be encouraged to obtain Air Brakes Endorsement on their driver's license

 

Supplies:
- Coveralls
- Footwear having CSA approved safety-toe protection

- CSA approved safety glasses with clear lenses
