Personal Living Skills teaches students to recognize how their personality traits and communication skills relating to employment and how their daily life choices contribute to success in the workplace, i.e. diet and nutrition, budgeting and living environment.

Learning Outcomes:
Once completed the course the student will be able to:

– Identify characteristics of success in the workplace;
– Recognize barriers to success and how to remove them;
– Describe and demonstrate motivational attitudes for the workplace;
– Describe the effects of motivational attitudes for success in the workplace;
– Describe what personal values are and recognize what personal values are in others;
– Demonstrate self-esteem;
– Demonstrate positive communication, including written, verbal, listening, and non-verbal styles;
– Manage the challenges of lifestyle change, by demonstrating life choices in areas of time management and recognition of drug and alcohol effects;
– Differentiate among various diet choices and the need for a healthy diet and nutrition;
– Recognize diverse cultures of society and demonstrate complementary interaction for a variety of ethnic groups;
– Prepare a monthly budget plan, including bill payment, food, shelter, and personal choice costs.
