The work experience/practicum is intended to allow the student the opportunity to job shadow or work along with an experienced person in their program of study. It is an unpaid 80 hour practicum. During this time, the student will be exposed to the terminology and duties required within their field of study. Students will be required to keep a journal of their daily activities and will be required to submit a report and make a presentation on information and knowledge gained during the practicum. Employers will complete a college generated evaluation of the student’s performance. Depending on placement, students will be required to provide their own suitable clothing. Some Safety training may be required prior to placement at the discretion of the sponsor. Students may be responsible for required training (eg. H2S, ATV, OFA 1, TDG).

Must be enrolled as a part- or full-time student in the Land Administration, Land Agency or Land Reclamation program.
Work along with an experience person in an employment setting related to program.
In the practicum students are exposed to the terminologies and duties of entry-level work in their chosen field. After completing their practicum, students will be able to:
- document their understanding of work environment in journal form
- present informally on the positive and negative aspects of work environment
- document various aspects of their field of employment in report form
- interact with employers in a professional manner
