WFTR 124 - CPR C

This course covers intensive CPR. It contains information on the anatomy and physiology of the heart and lungs, healthy heart living, adult and child, one or two rescuer, CPR, and obstructed airway techniques. A written exam is required to obtain certification from Red Cross. An annual update is recommended. Certification 3 years depending on job requirements.

 

Hours: 8 (Lecture Hours: 4; Field Experience Hours: 4)

 

Total Weeks: 1

 

Prerequisites:

Minimum recommended age of 16 years old.

Course Content:
In this course you will cover:
- Checking for consciousness, airway, breathing and circulation
- Conscious choking for an adult or child over 8 years old
- Unconscious choking for an adult or child over 8 years old
- Signs and symptoms of a heart attack

- Orientation on the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

 

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course participants will have the skills to assist a conscious or unconscious Adult, Child or Infant when:
- One-rescuer CPR is required
- Two-rescuer CPR is required
- When signs of a heart attack are present

- When they are choking.

 

Grading System: Pass/Fail

 

Passing Grade: Pass (There is not a specific passing grade. Whether the student passes or not is dependent on the Instructor's evaluation of how the student is able to demonstrate what they have learned

 

Percentage of Individual Work: 100
