Description:
The Social Service Worker Bridging Program is a one year Certificate Program designed to provide a stepping stone into the Social Services Worker Diploma (SSWD) Program for students who do not meet the program entrance requirements. It is a combination of College and Career Preparation (CCP) courses and two Social Services Worker Diploma (SSWD) program courses.
This program formalizes the upgrading process giving guidance to students as to how to proceed with upgrading into a specific program. The program will help students be successful upon entering academic programming.
The Social Service Worker Bridge Program is delivered using face-to-face, video-conferenced or online course offerings.

Admission Requirements:
All persons are admissible to the Career and College Preparation program who meet the following criteria:
- 17 years of age or older
AND

Out of school for at least one year
OR
-
By special arrangement with the local School District.
Note: Those aged 18 or older can enter Career and College Preparation without meeting the out-of-school requirement.

In order to be placed in the most appropriate Career and College Preparation program level the student should provide a secondary school transcript. As well, the student will undergo informal placement testing as determined on each campus (i.e. possibly the Canadian Adult Achievement Test (CAAT), Writing Assessment, interview with instructor)

Career Prospects:
This Certificate is intended for upgrading purposes into Academic programming. There are no direct career prospects.
Note: Successful completion of the Social Service Worker Bridging Certificate meets all program admission criteria for the Social Service Worker Diploma program; however, the prerequisite for 100-level English courses must still be met.
