Description:
The University Arts and Sciences program at Northern Lights College offers a wide variety of first and second-year courses for students interested in working towards an Associate of Arts degree, or transferring to university programs elsewhere.
The University Arts and Sciences program also provides courses that support other College programs, such as the Social Services Worker Diploma Program, Hospitality and Tourism Operations Diploma, Business Management Diploma Program, Land and Resource Management Diploma Program, and the Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education (AHCOTE).
Many of the courses in the University Arts and Sciences program are of interest to members of the community at large. The Academic Arts and Sciences program promotes instructional excellence, and offers students access to small classes and current educational technology.

Admission Requirements:
- Applicants who do not have at least a “B” in English 12 (or English Literature 12) or at least a “C” in a university-level English course must complete the NLC Writing Assessment before registering in 100-level English courses, Management 100, or introductory Creative Writing at the 200 level. Applicants intending to enrol in English 099: Foundational Writing are advised to complete the Assessment. Feedback on the Writing Assessment is presented as a recommendation, enabling students to make informed choices about course selection
