Applying for a Special Project Grant?
(ie CJDC Community Project Award/ Paul Dampier Endowment Award / William and Mary Wanka Art Promotion Award / NLC Foundation Board Special Project Grants)
Here are some frequently asked questions and some helpful hints on how to put together an award-winning proposal!
Where do I get an application?
There is no application. Applicants must submit a proposal. The proposal should identify:
- the project's objective
- the activities planned
- the intended outcome
- a project budget clearly defining expenditures
How will I know if my proposal is a good one?
The review panel needs to have a very clear idea of what the project is and how it will be carried out.
Your proposal should be able to answer the following questions:
- Is the goal of the project attainable?
- How is the project relevant to the stated goals and purposes of the award?
- Does the project fit the criteria of the award?
- Is there evidence of how the project will ensure community involvement?
- Is it clear how the money will be used?
Who makes the decisions?
An independent review committee is set up for each project grant.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. We receive many good proposals, and it is very difficult to choose between them. If your proposal is not selected, you can contact executive director of the NLC Foundation for feedback. There may be another project grant coming up that your proposal would also fit. In some cases, review panels will give suggestions on how proposals can be improved. You can take this advice and revise your proposal accordingly and submit again.
Can I receive the same award more than once?
Yes. There is no limit to the amount of times an organization or individual can receive an award. Awards are given for the best proposal submitted. While the NLC Foundation does not support ongoing funding an application may be repeated in subsequent years, although without it being given any special status by way of precedent or priority.
