ATBC Equipment loans for students

Students can access equipment from Assistive Technology British Columbia (ATBC) with the support of Northern Lights College’s Access Services Department.
There are two programs available for equipment loans with ATBC. 

  1. Equipment Loans for students with disabling conditions causing daily functional limitations.

    How to Apply:
    a) Complete the Application for Public Post-Secondary Loan (PPL) Services thru ATBC on your own or with the support of the Access Services staff.
    b) Submit your completed PPL form by email to accessservices@nlc.bc.ca or by dropping it off to the Access Services Office in Dawson Creek or Fort St. John. 
    c) ​Provide the following required supporting documentation to Access Services for submission with your PPL application:
    • Recent formal documentation (e.g. medical, psycho-educational assessment report, or audiology report) that verifies your disabling condition and describes how it causes you to experience daily functional limitations.
    •​ Proof of course registration (Access Services can supply a copy for your application)
    d) Access Services will mail your completed application form and supporting documentation to Assistive Technology BC (ATBC)
     
  2. Laptop Loans for a student registered with the Access Services department who only needs a laptop and no other equipment from ATBC. 

    How to Apply:
    a) Complete the Application for Public Post-Secondary Loan (PPL) Services thru ATBC on your own or with the support of the Access Services staff.
    b) Complete the Access To Technology (A2T) Laptop Loan Request Form on your own or with the support of the Access Services staff.
    c) Submit both forms to Access Services by email at accessservices@nlc.bc.ca or by dropping it off at the Access Office in Dawson Creek or in Fort St. John.
    d) Provide verification of enrollment (Access Services will coordinate this for you).
    e) Access Services will mail your completed application form and supporting documentation to Assistive Technology BC (ATBC).
