BC Centre of Training Excellence in Oil and Gas

NLC's Centre of Training Excellence opened in 2007, reaffirmed by the provincial government in 2012

The $12-million Jim Kassen Industry Training Centre, located at the Fort St. John campus, is home to the Centre of TrainingSimulated Well Site Training facility Excellence for Oil and Gas as well as several trades and apprenticeship programs.

The Industry Training Centre includes extensive hands-on learning opportunities available through the Simulated Well Site Training facility, as well as a full-sized drilling rig donated by Nabors Canada in 2012. The facility prepares students to enter the oil and gas industry and support the growth of BC’s economy.

The Centre of Training Excellence, meanwhile, is designed to address the challenges of skills training and education in the oil and gas industry on a provincial scale. Significant contributions have been made in the past by the Centre and with the current economic forecast for the province, the time is ripe for the Centre of Excellence to once again make progressive and effective contributions to oil and gas education.
