Safe Work Policy and Related Procedures


The Policy Statement
Northern Lights College recognizes the need for job and task specific instruction prior to commencing work. As required by WorkSafeBC regulation Northern Lights College will design Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for jobs and Safe Work Procedures (SWP’s) for job related tasks in conjunction with one or more of the following parties:

  • Worker Supervisor(s)
  • Campus Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • Worker representative familiar with the job or task
  • The HSEA

Supervisors are required to provide employees with the amount of instruction appropriate to the work being performed. To compliment this employees are required to familiarize themselves with both the SOP’s for their job and the SWP’s attached to the job.

Failure to adhere to written safe work procedures may result in disciplinary action.
