MSI/RSI Prevention and Injury Prevention
Northern Lights College is committed to a healthy work environment and the promotion of safe work procedures.
At Northern Lights College we require the co-operation of all students, instructors, contractors and staff to maintain this healthy safe environment.
At Northern Lights College we ask that everyone adhere to the following rules during physical activities:
-
Use correct posture and lifting technique when moving objects. If an object is heavy or awkward obtain help for a team lift or mechanical assistance. DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY UNSAFE LIFTS!
-
Classroom exercises or demonstrations that require a lift off the ground of a heavy load without mechanical aid are discouraged.
-
All students, instructors, contractors and staff should be aware of publications available at Northern Lights College on behalf of WorkSafeBC. We have numerous copies of prevention publications and of course will be willing to print publications for the web for students to read. All students are permitted to use the computer labs and numerous workstations to access WorkSafeBC.com and any resources present on the web site.
-
Correct workstation ergonomics must be implemented. Each campus may request the assistance of the HR Dept. for information regarding workstation or task related ergonomics.
-
Any injuries occurring in the classroom should be reported to the instructor and/or nearest first aid attendant.
-
Any job related injuries should be reported to the worker’s immediate supervisor and/or nearest first aid attendant.
