Convocation

Northern Lights College celebrates the achievements of its students through an annual convocation ceremony, usually held in June. Students enrolled in courses in which successful completion leads to the attainment of a credential or recognition of an achievement are honoured. Convocation ceremonies are held annually at Dawson Creek (includes graduates from Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge), Fort Nelson and Fort St. John.

The 2018 Northern Lights College Convocation Dates are:

  • Dawson Creek, Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge:
    Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., AME Hangar, Dawson Creek Campus
  • Fort St. John:

    Friday, June 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Pomeroy Hotel, Fort St. John (attached to the Casino)

  • Fort Nelson:
    June 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Phoenix Theater, Fort Nelson

Application to Graduate

All students completing their programs must apply to graduate through the Office of the Registrar.
The Request to Graduate form is located on the Graduation page.

Register for Convocation

Academic, Vocational & Trades Foundation Programs 

To be eligible to participate in convocation the following requirements must be met:

  1. You must apply to graduate through the Office of the Registrar. The Registrar will verify your eligibility to receive your credential.
  2. You must submit a Convocation Registration form along with a $25 +GST($26.25) convocation registration fee to Student Services. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

    Convocation Registration will open on March 19th, 2018 for Academic, Vocational and Trades Foundation Students.
  3. You must have successfully met your program outcomes in the prior term or expect to successfully meet your program outcomes before June 30, 2018.
  4. You may be recommended by the Program Dean or by the Registrar for recognition of an achievement.
  5. Outstanding debts must be paid in full.

Apprenticeship Level Trades Programs

To be eligible to participate in convocation the following requirements must be met:

  1. You must submit a Convocation Registration form along with a $25 +GST($26.25) convocation registration fee to Student Services. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Nomination of Valedictorians

Do you know a classmate who is an inspiration to you? You can nominate them to be valedictorian!

Valedictorian nominations are now closed for 2018 as of April 13, 2018.

Graduation Photos and Degree Frames

Individual Portrait Sessions for Graduation Photos will be available at each campus leading up to Convocation. Sign-up for sessions in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John opens April 15th, 2018.

  • Dawson Creek, Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge:
    Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, CECET Energy House, Dawson Creek Campus
