In Winter 2013, Harriet Stanford enrolled in English 100 at Northern Lights College as a dual credit student from North Peace Secondary. With some guidance from her instructor, Dr. Greg Lainsbury, Harriet wrote an outstanding research paper, entitled Power and Paradise: Representation of Islamic Values in Architecture.

Partnership aims to inspire the next generation of welders

DAWSON CREEK - Today Dawson Creek secondary school students celebrated the completion of a Mind over Metal welding camp, where they learned welding safety, basic welding processes and got a chance to try some arcs and sparks where their creativity took over. The students, 16 in total, ranging in age from 12-15, gathered at Northern Lights College alongside faculty, community members, representatives from CWA Foundation (CWAF) and TransCanada Corporation (TransCanada) to show off their work and celebrate this special achievement.

AHCOTE student awarded Simon Fraser University Dean’s Medal for Education

FORT ST. JOHN – The Simon Fraser University Dean’s Undergraduate Medal for the Faculty of Education was awarded to Jennifer Wilkinson last week when she graduated with her Bachelor of General Studies. The Dean’s Medal is annually awarded by instructor recommendation, to one student whose cumulative GPA is in the top five percent of their faculty.

Two former long-time area residents create award in memory of some of Dawson Creek’s finest citizens

DAWSON CREEK – In the September 2016-17 academic year Monty Bissett and Bill Lawrence contributed $5,000 to create the award in memory of Bill Testawich, Jim McPhail, Don Kirschman, Hazel Beaulieu, and Wandy Kravontka. The award amount was matched by the NLC Foundation to bring the total award amount to $10,000.
