Thank you from NLC for Knowledge Infrastructure Program funding

To the Editor:
On Saturday, October 15, Northern Lights College hosted grand opening celebrations for the Centre of Excellence in Clean Energy Technology (Energy House) and the Health Sciences Building.
NLC was honoured by the attendance of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, and the Honourable Christy Clark, Premier of British Columbia. To have two such notable dignitaries attend the opening for these projects at NLC shines a positive light on the College, the City of Dawson Creek, and the entire Peace region.
Without the commitment and investment by both the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia, through funding provided by the Knowledge Infrastructure Program (KIP), neither of these projects would have come to fruition.
In fact, NLC was very fortunate. Of the 42 KIP projects approved in B.C., 17 were at B.C.’s 11 public colleges, and two of those were at NLC.
The College was also pleased to welcome our local provincial and federal representatives to the grand opening.
Blair Lekstrom, MLA for Peace River South, has always been a key supporter of Northern Lights College and the role it plays for residents in northern British Columbia. The College knows that Blair worked hard on our behalf in support of these projects, and we thank him for his efforts.
Bob Zimmer, MP for Prince George-Peace River, attended his first function at NLC in his new federal capacity, and we look forward to the same type of positive working relationship we had with his predecessor, Jay Hill.
Approval for and completion of the College’s Knowledge Infrastructure Program projects also involved the support and hard work of many other individuals and organizations, including NLC staff members, industry partners, and municipal governments.
NLC would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping these projects come to fruition, and we want to welcome everyone to visit these impressive new facilities, and experience more of what is available at Northern Lights College.
