ABTC 119 – Computers and Groupware

Students will be introduced to basic computer operating system capabilities as well as the basic hardware components of computer systems. Students will learn how to effectively use computer file and folder structure. Student will use Microsoft Outlook to organize and share electronic information.

- Listing, creating, deleting, copying, and moving files
- Basic computer hardware and software operating systems
- Storage media and devices
- Internet basics
- Basic troubleshooting
- Viruses and copyright
- Exchanging documents using public folders
- Using calendar features
- Scheduling a meeting
- Using a contacts folder
- Using email and attachments
- Using task manager  


Learning Outcomes:

 Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Manage computer files and folders
- Identify a variety of hardware components
- Work in a Windows operating system
- Perform basic troubleshooting operations
- Compose messages, create tasks and schedule meetings
- Organize messages and folders

Passing Grade:  70%
