AMEP 108 - Engine Components

This course covers propellers, turbochargers, carburetors, magnetos and associated systems.

Admission to the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Program.

Course Content:
Carburetors
- Disassemble carburetor
- Name parts and explain their purpose
- Reassemble and complete float level adjustment
Propellers
- Disassemble various propellers and governors
- Name parts and explain their purpose
- Reassemble and adjust to manufacturer’s specifications
- Accomplish field repairs on aluminum propellers
- Balance a propeller installation
- Complete rigging of turbine propeller installations
Turbochargers
- Test and adjust turbocharger system components
Magnetos
- Inspect and test magnetos
- Repair high tension leads
- Install magnetos on appropriate piston engines

 

Learning Outcomes:

The student will inspect and perform typical maintenance tasks on propellers, turbochargers, carburetors, magnetos and associated components and systems.

 

Grading System:  Percentage

 

Passing Grade:  70%

 

Percentage of Individual Work: 100
