MILL 161- Practicum

This is an unpaid practicum. The practicum will be supervised and evaluated by Northern Lights College staff and the employer.  Students will be expected to apply theoretical knowledge obtained from the MILL 101 course.  Northern Lights College will obtain a minimum 60 hours of work experience for students.

 

Hours: 80 (Practicum Hours: 80)

 

Prerequisites:
None

 

Non-Course Prerequisites:
Students may be required to complete safety certifications at their expense prior to practicum placements as directed by the practicum host and/or instructor.

 

Co-requisites:
None

 

Course Content:
The practicum will improve and expand on skills and theory taught in the Millwright Entry Level Program content to be guided by the sponsor. Instructors will make every effort to provide students with a 60-hour placement. Placements are entirely dependent upon availability within industry to take students.

 

Learning Outcomes: Student goal is to gain experience and demonstrate skills learned in the class/lab sessions. Perform first year apprentice tasks as assigned.

 

Grading System: Pass/Fail

 

Passing Grade: Pass
