# ECON205 Community Economic Development

An applied introduction to community economic development across Canadian urban, rural, remote, northern, and Indigenous contexts. Students examine local economies, demographic change, Indigenous–settler relationships, regional inequality, entrepreneurship, workforce development, infrastructure, housing, food systems, social enterprise, and economic diversification. Using community-engaged methods and accessible data, students assess local assets and challenges, compare development strategies, design an implementable initiative, identify financing and governance options, and establish measures of community well-being and economic impact.
