Learning Support

Our Learning Support Specialists work one-on one with current students to identify and overcome learning barriers and share helpful advice. If you need assistance, support, or someone to just listen, please contact the Learning Support Specialist.

Here's how we can help you

Academic Support

We work with faculty to support students who have been placed on academic probation and/or who are thinking of dropping out of their programs.

Overcoming Barriers

We provide workshops and one-on-one sessions to help students overcome barriers, including study skills, time management, exam taking, note taking, budgeting, and networking.

Career Planning

We can assist current students in establishing career and academic goals, and career planning.

Wellness Workshops

We organize workshops for students on topics of wellness, including substance abuse, sexual abuse, and mental health.

General Advice

We’re here to advise students on how to balance school, personal life and work.

Tutoring Access

We’ll assist students in accessing tutoring, providing names of possible tutors, and information on services available from NLC’s Career and College Preparation department.

Service Referrals

When needed, we refer students to other NLC services such as Financial Aid, Indigenous Student Navigators, and Access Services. We can also refer students to outside agencies, where required including counseling, physicians, mental health professionals, social assistance agencies, literacy societies, or food banks.
