For the second year, the Northern Lights College Foundation hosted its popular 50/50 draw and Mega Lottery at the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede. The results were truly impressive. This year’s total jackpot reached $134,095, to be split evenly between the Foundation and the lucky winners.
The largest 50/50 prize was awarded on Saturday, with one fortunate ticket holder walking away with $19,165. The Mega Lottery winner on Sunday won $20,997.

Kayla Von Bargen, Development Officer for the NLC Foundation, expressed her excitement about the event’s success.
“We’re truly grateful to DCEA for having us back again and for the incredible community spirit we experienced at the Fall Fair last week! Every ticket we sold helps our students, college, and campus communities, and seeing so many people come together to support the NLC Foundation reminds us why this work matters. Our feet are tired, but our hearts are so full! Thank you to everyone who came out to support us!”
Lindsey Borek, Executive Director of the Foundation explained how much these events and connections mean to the Foundation.
“Partnerships like this not only help us raise vital funds, but also strengthen the connections and initiatives that advance our mission. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our communities, dedicated staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors for their unwavering support, which continues to drive our success.”

The Foundation extended its heartfelt thanks to the Dawson Creek Exhibition for hosting them as well as the Dawson Creek Volleyball Club and Beaverlodge 4H for helping sell tickets. A big shout-out goes to Mr. Mikes, Stuie’s Diner, Flavours 8, Post & Row, Rockwell’s, Sam’s Friends and Rimrock Ridge for helping get the word out.

Meanwhile, at the Dawson Creek Co-op, the Foundation’s Sizzle Squad won first place in Ovintiv’s Race Against Hunger. This year’s squad included Executive Director Lindsey Borek and board members Aaron Powell, Kathleen Connolly, and Chante Patterson-Elden.
All food and funds raised will go to Networks Ministries, St. Mark’s, and the Pouce Coupe Food Bank. These groups help families, students, and community members who need support. This year, NLC and the NLC Foundation were proud to contribute $1,000 in cash to help these food banks continue their important work.
Giving back to our communities and supporting local initiatives is an important part of NLC’s strategic plan to foster meaningful community connections.
“We want to thank Ovintiv, Longhorn, and Co-op. They are longtime friends of NLC and support us by leading this amazing initiative every year. Being able to join with them in making a difference is both an honor and a privilege,” said Lindsey.

While most prizes have been claimed, the winning 50/50 number for Thursday evening remains unclaimed. The winning number is #D-6587 with a take-home prize of $4657.50. If you are the lucky winner, contact the Foundation at foundation@nlc.bc.ca.
