We encourage all prospective and current students living in student housing to read through the Student Housing Handbook.

Live close to class

Housing fees include electricity, heat, hot water, access to the campus internet, and free parking for one vehicle per student(plug in and non-plug-in stalls are available).

Dawson Creek

Student housing at Dawson Creek is located on campus, close to local businesses, restaurants and shopping. The secure, managed building features indoor and outdoor activity areas including a games room, student lounge, workout area, and several group study areas.

Capacity

Student housing has two wings with capacity for 190 students and includes assisted living units. 

Bedrooms

Choose from one, two, three, and four bedroom units. There is also a two bedroom wheelchair-accessible suite on each floor.

Living Arrangements

Each suite has a comfortable couch and chair, a large picture window, and smaller windows that open. Assisted living suites have custom designed kitchens and showers.

Furniture

Each bedroom has access to Wi-Fi and is furnished with a bed, small dresser, computer desk, and chair.

Kitchen, Laundry & Cleaning

Each unit has a kitchen with a stove, fridge, microwave, table, and chairs. Each floor is equipped with a washer and dryer. Vacuum cleaners are available to borrow.

Fort St. John

Student housing at Fort St. John campus provides a comfortable setting for students to live, while experiencing the spectacular sights of local wildlife. Located on campus near the north edge of the city, the building is close to scenic forest trails. Enjoy relaxing common areas with ping pong and pool tables.

Student housing has capacity for 98 students and includes assisted living units.

Long Term Stay

Minimum stay is two months, after which you must give the Housing Manager 48 hours’ written notice should you choose to move out. If your program length is shorter, you can end your stay at the end of your program.

Damage Deposit

$200, due after receiving confirmation that a room is available, and before moving in.

All short-term stay suites are four-bedroom units. The minimum stay is two nights, maximum stay is 20 nights.

Executive Suite Stay

Only available on the Dawson Creek campus, these self contained hotel-style rooms are designed for short term stays. Cleaning is provided once a week if requested.

There is no application fee charged for Executive Suite stays, however the first night’s payment is required with application.

Paying your fees

Northern Lights College has implemented a new payment program where you are responsible for payment for the first semester (as well as security deposit), OR for the length of the program you are registered in. A new payment structure is being implemented in September, 2024, and details can be found here.

Four month semester (Sept.–Dec. or Jan.–April):

3-4 bedroom suite: $2,240/bedroom per semester
2 bedroom suite: $2,520/bedroom per semester
1 bedroom suite: $4,760 per semester

Trades program stay (eight weeks)

3-4 bedroom suite: $1,120/bedroom per 8-week trades program
2 bedroom suite: $1,260/bedroom per 8-week trades program
1 bedroom suite: $2,380 per 8-week trades program


How to apply

To qualify to live in student housing at NLC:
  • The principal resident must be a registered student attending classes at Northern Lights College or another recognized institution.
  • Please review the College Student Housing Guide and Handbook.
  • Pay the application fee.
  • Complete the entire form, including the date and time of your expected arrival.
  • Students under 19 years of age must have a parent or guardian complete and sign the Informed Consent section of the housing application.
  • Housing priority will be given to first-year students, those who self-identify as Indigenous, and former youth in care.
