Northern Lights College students will have the opportunity to participate on a college rodeo team. The program will use facilities at Northern Lights College and in its communities to start activities.

Working with Engage Sport North, Northern Lights College has committed to taking the substantial steps to start a competitive rodeo program with the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (CIRA) and is currently looking for rodeo athletes to start in September.

“We’re dedicated to advancing college-level sports in the North. The development of a CIRA rodeo team is an important part of this,” says Todd Bondaroff, Associate Vice President of Student Services and Community Relations at Northern Lights College. “This initiative will engage our communities while providing opportunities for students to train local, stay local, and work local.”

Northern Lights College offers many programs that prepare future professionals in industries that are prevalent in Northern BC. This initiative will promote students to pursue their professional career in their own communities as well attract new students to Northern BC.

Engage Sport North and Northern Lights College representatives will have a presence at both the Canadian High School Rodeo Finals in Merritt from July 27–29, and the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede August 8–12.
