DAWSON CREEK – Northern Lights College has entered into a unique partnership with the South Peace Community Resources Society (SPCRS).
The partnership sees the College’s Residential Construction students constructing a new facility for Reconnect Youth Services.
Traditionally, Residential Construction students have built a single-family home as the practical portion of the program. However, this is the second community partnership project in the past five years. In 2008, NLC students partnered with the District of Chetwynd to build a new airport terminal at the Chetwynd Airport.
Ten students are enrolled in the program this year. Successful completion of the Residential Construction program provides students with Levels 1 and 2 Carpentry technical training, as well as 600 work-based hours credited towards their apprenticeship completion.
