After serving as the acting director of the department for several months, Tony Mei has accepted to role of Director of International Education here at Northern Lights College

Tony has been hard at work in the international side of NLC, long before he ever stepped into the director’s chair. He joined the NLC family in 2019, starting off as the International Recruitment and Business Development Coordinator before taking on the role of acting director.

“It’s a dream fulfilled” he says of his new position within NLC.

During his time with NLC, Tony has helped expand the college’s international population, which he says is among the most diverse in British Columbia. NLC has students from 37 countries, including the Philippines, India, Kenya, Australia, Jamaica, Morocco, Romania, and Italy, among others.

Not only does NLC have international students coming here, but we provide domestic students the chance to study abroad. Recently, students have travelled to Japan, the Philippines, Hawaii, Spain, and Mexico, with plans underway for trips to Peru and Jordan.

Furthermore, NLC has also signed memorandums of understanding with post-secondary schools in Kenya through the International Education department.

Tony looks forward to expanding NLC’s role as a global educational partner and a welcome destination for anyone seeking knowledge, no matter where they’re from.
