Believe it or not, how you put a plant in the ground makes a big difference in how well it thrives and how long it lives.  In this course, we will explore proper planting techniques for trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals.  You will learn some of the most common planting mistakes and the techniques that should be used instead.  You will learn how and when to root-prune, pre-soak, and mound your plantings.  You will learn the best types of soil, fertilizer, and mulch.

Companion planting is an excellent way to bring harmony and healthy plants to your garden design.  We will discuss successful companion planting for trees, shrubs, perennials, and vegetables.  We will learn which plants do not get along and why, and what to plant instead.
