The NLC Foundation was pleased to present Bryce Brown with the Nathan Smith Memorial award at the Aircraft Maintenance Technician program completion on Wednesday, Jan 24, 2024.

This scholarship was established by Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd and is dedicated in memory of Nathan Smith. From the time Nathan was a small child, he was always working with his hands, creating, crafting, and repairing. He honed those skills as an adult and followed his passions to become an AME specializing in helicopter maintenance and component overhaul.

To qualify for this award, a student must:

  • Must be a graduate of the Aircraft Maintenance Technician Program
  • Distinguished academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3.67 or 85% average)
  • Must be an AME student who demonstrates an interest in pursuing a career in helicopter maintenance.

Bryce was the top student in both the practical and theory portions of his program and will be doing his practicum at Yellowhead Helicopters, the company that funds the award.
