How NLC provides access for all
We recognize the right of persons with disabilities to gain equal access to post-secondary education. We arrange reasonable accommodations and collaborate with community service providers to support persons with disabilities.
Our Learning Support Specialists work one-on one with current students to identify and overcome learning barriers. Our specialists also help with career planning, organize wellness workshops, and share advice on how to balance school, personal life and work.
If you need assistance, support, or someone to just listen, please contact the Learning Support Specialist.
Our Indigenous Student Navigators are here to support Indigenous students through the entire education journey at NLC, with advice about admissions, programs, and more.
Our International Student Advisors welcome international students to Canada, providing guidance for admissions, registration and ongoing support for success in Canadian studies.
NLC program advisors work one-on-one with current academic students in the University Arts and Sciences, Business Management, and Social Work programs, providing advice on course selection, program planning, credential requirements, and graduation requirements.
NLC is committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus. Sexual violence impacts people across all identities and backgrounds. NLC offers ongoing education, awareness and training for the members of the college community about prevention and response to sexual violence and misconduct.

Your wellness matters
As advocates for healthy lifestyles, NLC has compiled resources to help you thrive as you work towards achieving your academic and career goals.

Keeping our students safe
The free, GuardMe Student Support Program provides all NLC students access to a large, diverse network of professional counsellors. Students are matched with a counsellor who understands their unique experiences, in the preferred language and culture of the student.
Feeling anxious, stressed, lonely? All NLC students can access this 24/7 support for free.

Guard.me Ambassador Program

The Guard.me Ambassador Program at Northern Lights College is designed to support and engage students on both the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek campuses. Our ambassadors play an essential role in fostering a supportive campus environment by:
- Engaging in monthly campaigns and promoting events related to Guard.me and the Guard.me Student Support Program (GSSP) services
- Building connections with student groups, associations, and other campus organizations.
- Educating students about Guard.me insurance and the Guard.me Student Support Program (GSSP) services while answering any questions they may have.
- Managing or contributing to a dedicated Instagram channel to promote Guard.me and GSSP services.
- Raising awareness about general mental health and providing resources for support.
The role of the Guard.meCARES Ambassador Program is to actively promote Guard.me insurance and GSSP services and initiatives at the college, ensuring students are well-informed and have access to essential well-being resources.
If you are interested in learning more about the Guard.me Ambassador Program or wish to participate, please visit Guard.me Ambassador Program and reach out to a Learning Support Specialist at learningsupport@nlc.bc.ca!
