This Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee Training course was developed by the Workers Compensation Board of BC for Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC). This course aims at helping participants to identify and interpret JHSC members’ functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety. This 8-hour course meets the requirement of Regulation 3.27 for joint committee mandatory training and Part 2 of the Act, section 41 “Educational Leave” (8 hours).
This course will address new legislation and policies and explain the purposes of the Act, Regulation, and OHS Guidelines.

The rules of procedure of the joint committee
The requirements around conducting incident investigations
The requirements around conducting regular workplace inspections
The requirements around responding to a refusal of unsafe work
The requirements for annually evaluating the joint committee
