Students explore historical and contemporary approaches in Canada, including emerging Indigenous and decolonial perspectives, and examine how social, economic, political, and environmental factors influence community well-being. Through the use of introductory data, research, and case studies, learners begin to analyze community issues, identify key stakeholders, and understand the stages of community initiatives. The course emphasizes ethical practice, inclusive engagement, and critical self-reflection, while building essential communication and collaboration skills.
