Policy Toolkit & Resources

Policy development can be overwhelming, so before you start writing, be sure to check out the resources below. If you have any questions, please reach out to the policy committee nlcpolicies@nlc.bc.ca.

1. Policy Development Manual

Describes what needs to be included in the policy and procedures and how to begin writing the draft documents.

2. Indigenization Resources

When taking part in policy creation, those involved should research and reflect on what it means to decolonize or Indigenize the process, and while not all policies will include elements specific to Indigenous peoples, Indigenous content, or Indigenous ways of being, either the CIIE (Council for Innovation in Indigenous Education) or NLC’s Indigenization Committee should be consulted throughout the development of any relevant policy at NLC.
